High Five for Friday

It's been brought to my attention that I've been a major slacker when it comes to my blog lately. My apologies to the hand full of family members that follow my blog. I'll try to be better! It's just life has been busy but boring and no one wants to hear about that.

The weekend doesn't usually mean too much to me since I only work one or two days during the week and my hot handsome husband is usually off saving the world. Most of the time Saturday and Sunday are just like any other weekday. But I'm actually looking forward to this weekend and I think that's because I had a busier than normal week and my hot handsome husband will actually be home (fingers crossed)!

I worked three nights this week, that's unheard of for me! Yes, I am fully aware I sound like a Princess and I'm okay with that. The Urgent Care was out of control! Flu Shot people! Oh and please don't come to us if you think you are having a heart attack or stroke. We are not an emergency room, we are a glorified doctor office!

I'll get off my healthcare soapbox and share my five favorite moments from this week.

1. How cute are these two?! I just want to squeeze them both.

2. Chocolate mint wine! I love everything minty and chocolate and I'm looking forward to trying this. I'm hoping it's like dessert in a glass.

3. I like to torture Cheyenne when I'm bored for my own personal amusement. My future children are so screwed!

4. We were finally able to use our fire place this season. To say I was excited is an understatement. I tried to get Cheyenne to sit in front for a photo op but she wasn't hearing it.

5. And most importantly, this week was 12/12/12, my hot handsome husband's 30th birthday! I blew up 30 balloons and attached 30 pictures with sayings, quotes and qualities on the back. A borrowed Pinterest idea!

I'm looking forward to some snuggle time, a Holiday party and more snuggling this weekend.

What are you looking forward to this weekend?

High Five for Friday

I know it's Friday but all day yesterday and even when I woke up this morning, I thought it was Saturday.  I pumped myself up for the Farmer's Market, only to realize that it's not quite the official weekend yet.  I'm not sure which day of the week I mentally skipped over but I feel like my brain has been extra foggy this week.  Thank goodness I took some pictures to remind me of what I did!

    1. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE receiving things in the mail. Cards, coupons, clothes, packages and especially fun gifts like the one above. I look forward to getting the mail everyday. Strange, I know, especially since we mostly receive bills and junk mail. So you can imagine my pure childlike excitement when I opened my mailbox and found this Halloween decorated package from my Auntie Lori.  I knew it was from her because she always draws me pictures on anything she sends me! Sno caps, Tinkerbell gummies and a festive scrub top! She knows the way to my heart.  As a side note, my Auntie Lori is the best! She sends me packages for all the Holidays (sometimes just because) and always includes non age appropriate things (which I love). My inner child always makes an appearance and her packages guarantee a smile! Thanks Auntie Lori!

    2. I had a migraine two days this week (maybe that's where the fogginess came from) and have been on the cranky side.  My hot handsome husband came home from work with these flowers.  The best part was his presentation, "I brought you sunflowers to brighten your day."  He's such a great guy!

   3. Speaking of my hot handsome husband, he's obsessed with Halloween! We have a grave yard, a pirate skeleton, a monster coming out of the ground, a witch, creepy skeleton man on our door, spider webs galore, black lights, strobe lights and so much more (the picture does not do it justice). Oh and of course Cheyenne had to supervise our decorating!

    4. This must have been the week to get into the Halloween spirit because beside decorating, I bought my costume and carved a pumpkin with some pretty great ladies from the 16th AS. I really wanted to do a monogram pumpkin but my Sister Wife (yes, I'm still complaining!) convinced me to carve Tinkerbell.  She will fit right in with our scary decor!

    5. I don't know who was more excited for some quality cuddle time, me or Cheyenne! She was snoring within 2 minutes! We are looking forward to some Mommy/Puppy time this weekend.

Are you doing anything fun this weekend?

High Five for Friday

I am so glad yesterday is over. Thank you to everyone for checking in on me and for all your inspirational words. I plan to get back to you all individually. I love all of you.

This week has been productive but lacked excitement. Things are back to "normal" in the Froehlich household. My hot handsome husband is home but he's not actually home. He's been so busy with sims and work and school that we've spent about 45 min of quality time together. I go to sleep way earlier than him and he wakes up before the sun. But still I'm happy to know that he's in the same state as me!

As you'll notice from my Top 5 from this week, running has been my highlight.

1. I signed up for the Disney Princess Half Marathon! I am beyond excited! I have been wanting to do this for several years now. And yes, I've already purchased my princess crown.

2. I finished week two of my couch to 5k program. Baby steps people! I have to admit though I've been running five times per week and not three like the program suggests. I'm hoping to lose a few pounds!

3. This cute little guy greeted me on one of my morning runs. I stopped to take his picture and an elderly woman stopped to chat with me. I learned she gets just as excited about little creatures as I do (flash forward to me in 40 years!).

4. Speaking of little creatures, Cheyenne will always be my favorite!

5. My breakfast this morning. I am obsessed with everything pumpkin and I'm not afraid to admit it. Our house is full of pumpkin candles, soap, body wash, lotion, lip gloss and delicious pumpkin treats!

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend! Mine is full of work, BLS class, running and a date night with my hot handsome husband!

A Day in the Life of a Motherless Daughter

I am twenty eight years old and there are still some days that I want to throw myself to the ground, have a tantrum and scream "I want my Mommy."  And today is one of those days...

This feeling was sparked by reading a Facebook status that my cousin's girlfriend posted.  She recently lost her Mom and my heart breaks for her.  I want to wrap my arms around her, tell her she is not alone and that she will find the strength that she is longing for.

The void I know she is feeling, I feel too.  There is an emptiness inside me that will never be filled.  No one in your life will ever love you as your Mom does.  There is no love as pure, unconditional and strong as a mother's love.  And I will never be loved that way again.  Don't get me wrong, I know my Dad loves me unconditionally (as I do him) but a girl needs her Mom.

I feel that my development as a woman, as a person, has been damaged.  I've said it a million times, my Mom's death has definitely messed me up mentally and I am not afraid to admit that.  There are days when I am driving in my car and it just hits me.  I feel like my whole world has fallen apart.  I can't stand to be around people because they seem so happy and normal (meaning they still have their Mom) and my life will never be "normal" again.

There are tons of selfish reasons I miss my Mom.  I had no one to help me plan my wedding.  I was all alone, in the middle of no where (okay so I was in Enid, OK but that's the same thing) planning what was supposed to be the happiest day of my life.   I cannot even count the number of meltdowns I had.  I honestly wanted the day to hurry up and be over with.  Not because I don't love my hot handsome husband and didn't want to be married but because I didn't want to celebrate such a huge milestone without my Mom.   I am happy to report that our wedding day was beautiful but I'd be lying if I said that there weren't many times that I had to take deep breaths and remind myself that I had the strength to make it through the day.

If you know me at all, you know that right now in my life there is nothing that I want more than to have a baby.  I know that this isn't going to be an easy milestone either.  Who will I call with the millions of questions a new Mom has?  Who will remind me of the songs my Mom used to sing to me? My children will never know their Grandmother.  And I think that's what hurts the most because I know my Mom would have loved having grandchildren.  She would have spoiled them rotten.

It's not just my loss that I mourn.  My Mom was very involved with her nieces and nephews and it breaks my heart that my cousins no longer have their Auntie Pearl.  Some of them were even too young when she died to remember her and that kills me.

I think of my Mom at least once a day.  Sometimes its as simple as a butterfly crossing my path (her favorite!) or more complicated like days like today.  I don't always cry when I think of her.  As a matter of fact most of the time the thought of my Mom brings a smile across my face. But  I especially miss her when life seems overwhelming and I wish I didn't have to be so self sufficient.  My hot handsome husband calls me stubborn but when your Mom dies at a young age your only option is to become independent.

I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason but ten years later I am still trying to find the reason my Mom was taken from us.  Yes, it made me incredibly strong, stubbornly independent and gave me character, but I for one am tired of being strong.  I'd give it all up to be wrapped in her scent and her arms.

High Five for Friday

It's been such a great week! I don't want it to end! It was extremely hard to pick just five of my favorite things.

1. I love my Daddy! That's him playing on his new toy! Yes, this is all completely normal.

2. I met baby Parker. He is a cute little peanut. Baby fever is in full effect. Hot handsome husband, if you're reading this...I want one!!

3 (a & b). I spent some time with my furry nephew and niece, Opus and Claret. My buddy, Opus, is calm and cuddly. Claret is crazy!

4. Ahhh just a little slice of heaven! I couldn't contain my excitement when I saw the coffee milk.

5. Perfect beach day, sipping lime-a-ritas with my other half. I have missed her so much!

Meet my furry sister, Jade. Isn't she cute?!
We went for a run together, threw the ball around and spent some quality cuddle time. We're going to be best friends forever!

High Five for Friday

I really struggled with coming up with five of my favorite things from this week. I realized I only left my house once this week. Yes, you read that right. I live quite the exciting life!

    1. After a long hiatus, I started back to blogging. I am hoping this inspires me to take more pictures and do more exciting things than get my money's worth with Netflix.

    2. Speaking of my Netflix addiction, I am now obsessed with Sons of Anarchy. It helps that Jax is easy on the eyes and that I also have a little crush on Juice. I only have one episode left to watch but thankful season 4 comes out on the 28th.

    3. I purchased Friends with Benefits for $10 at Target (yes that was my one trip out of the house). I love Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. I plan on spending some quality time with both of them tonight.

    4. How can you not love this adorable face?! Cheyenne is definitely my partner in crime. We have a "small" codependent, attached at the hip problem. I am anxious to see how she reacts when my hot handsome hubby is back in the picture.

    5. And last but not least, my friends, Nicole and Ryan, welcomed their son Parker James into the world today. Congratulations to both of them! I cannot wait to meet the little guy when I go home next week.

Enjoy your weekend!

Time Flies

Where did the last two and a half months go?! I can't believe it's been so long since my last blog!

Sorry I've been MIA but I'm back per the request of several family members, including my hot handsome husband.

My last blog was right after Cannata left around Memorial Day.  Let's catch everyone up...

Visited my Aunt & Uncle in Myrtle Beach
Celebrated Ruby's "fake" Birthday at Hooters
Supported Lil Sara at Spoletto
just a normal night at Trivia
A night out with some lovely ladies to celebrate my birthday

For my birthday, I received a fancy new camera from my hot handsome husband that I have no idea how to use.  Cheyenne is helping me learn all the settings.

Melissa came to visit and we had a White Trash Cookout!

Ghetto Cheyenne rocking her bandana
How many lovely ladies can you fit into a kiddie pool?!
Cheyenne sunbathing with the girls

The rest of my hot handsome husband's squadron came home around the Fourth of July.  To get my mind off of things, my Sister Wife and I headed down to Orlando.  Disney cures everything!

some American pride with Mickey
My New Dolphin Friend
Mama and Baby Sea Lion (I wanted to steal him!)
Cannata came to Sea World with us! Yay!
Pirate Dinner
My New Boyfriend

Came home to CHS to enjoy my first shrimp boil
My cousins came to visit!
Cheyenne hanging with her cousins

Things around here have been pretty boring since our last clan of visitors left.  Cheyenne and I have spent a lot of quality time together (AKA I spend most of my time cuddled up on the couch watching Netflix).  Days without human contact lead to me going crazy and acting silly (see picture below).

Playing Dress Up
this pretty much sums up our last couple weeks

Cheyenne and I are over this deployment.  We are ready for the man of the house to come home. Thankfully there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

    How has your summer been?

Here's to Visitors and Great Friends

Oh my goodness! Where have I been?!

I have been super busy, which is a good GREAT thing because it makes my time away from my hot handsome husband pass more quickly.  Although, I do feel guilty at times because I am enjoying another beautiful spring/summer in Charleston while my hot handsome husband is in an undisclosed location defending my freedom. I hope to be able to enjoy life with my husband sometime soon.

I'm done with my pity party, now onto what I've been up to for the last few months...

I have had TONS of visitors!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE visitors! No seriously, when people call and tell me they are coming to visit (like definite plans, not I am really hoping to maybe come visit you sometime soon) I get so excited! I have a little dance party! So, if you want to make this girl wicked happy, come visit!

My first set of visitors (of the season) were my Auntie Lori, Auntie Jan and cousins Brookie and Alyssa.  It was a quick visit and the weather wasn't the greatest but we made the best of it and still had tons of fun! So much fun, that rumor has it that my Auntie Lori is coming back in July (more on that later).

Next, my cousin Jenni came to Charleston!  It was another amazing visit.  We had perfect weather.  I gave her the downtown tour, brought her to my favorite restaurant, went to the beach and visited Cypress Gardens (the swan scene in The Notebook was filmed there).  It was so nice to spend so much quality time with her. I didn't want her to leave.

Yea we look a little alike!
Cypress Gardens

My first wedding anniversary was May 7th!  Although my hot handsome husband is on the opposite side of the world, he made it an extra special day for me.  I received beautiful flowers, a heartfelt letter with a picture of our initials etched into the dessert sand, a gift certificate for a day at the spa and was able to FaceTime with my hubby for over an hour. I also went out to dinner with a great group of ladies.  Overall, I had a wonderful day, the only thing missing was my love.

My Dad and Deb stopped by on their way to Daytona Beach.  We spent our Saturday morning at the Farmer's Market and my dad put up curtain rods for me!  After being in our house for over a year, we finally have curtains up in the main area and master bedroom.  Thanks Dad, you're the best!

As a side note, my Dad has come to visit me a numerous amount of times since we've moved to Charleston.  He was our very first visitor and is our most frequent.  There was a point when I was seeing him once a month!  His visits never get old.  He could come and visit me every week and I would never get sick of it!  It's like having a little piece of home here with me.  After all, my daddy will always be one of my favortie guys!  I will always be my Daddy's little girl!

Now back to my crazy busy, fun filled life!

I ran another race and this time I barely made it!  I had only ran twice since my 10K back in March and it was obvious. However, the Run Forest Run 5K was a fun run!  Forest Gump was there with Bubba Gump.  The race finished by running over home plate and the River Dogs baseball team giving high fives!  Free food, free beer, good friends and a baseball game.  Does it get much better than that?

The 16th Running Lions

The day following the run, I became a TV star!  Okay, not really, but I was an extra on Army Wives and I received a good amount of air time for a first timer.  If you missed it, I should also be in the episode that air on June 24th.  Mark your calendars!

This past weekend was Memorial Day and Cannata came to visit!  We had a jam packed weekend of fun!  Friday, we ran all around Charleston looking for all the ingredients to make Birthday Cake Martinis and somehow I managed to find curtains for my bedroom and a new duvet cover.  I'm not sure if my hot handsome husband will even recognize our home we he gets back because I have done lots some redecorating!

yummy

We spent Saturday at the beach, along with everyone else in the Charleston area.  Seriously, it took FOREVER to get to the beach and then it was packed.  It was a beautiful day though and the waves were crazy big because of the tropical storm that's supposed to be heading our way.

We finished off the evening painting Rainbow Row at Wine and Design.  It is definitely one of my favorite places in Charleston.  It's always a great girls night with lots of laughs and I'm always surprised (in a good way) at how my painting turns out.

a little wine sparks our creativity

our masterpieces

We ended Cannata's visit with a Memorial Day cookout.  Good food, good beer, great friends and unforgettable memories.

Sister Wives

some of my favorite ladies

Thank you to all the visitors I've had over the last couple months, you have made the last couple months without my hubby fly by! Spread the word to your friends that Charleston is a great place to visit and that the company isn't so bad either!

My next group of confirmed visitors include my sister Melissa and a clan of Aunts and cousins!  I can't wait!  I am even hoping to head to RI for a week toward the end of August depending on my hot handsome husband's return date.

We miss our hero!

Goal of the summer, keep busy so that September is here in the blink of an eye!
